Lead Estimator
Location: St. Pauls, London
Salary: Negotiable, depending on experience
Salter Grange are currently recruiting for an experienced Lead Estimator to take charge of overseeing and mentoring two skilled estimators as well as your own projects. This is a pivotal role with strong influence over project success, pricing strategy, and commercial risk management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation of accurate, timely, and competitive estimates across multiple projects
- Review and oversee estimates prepared by junior estimators, ensuring consistency and accuracy
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to understand project scope and deliverables
- Manage tender submissions, including take-offs, subcontractor inquiries, and pricing schedules
- Develop and refine estimating tools, databases, and best practices
- Coach and support the growth of the estimating team through leadership and technical mentorship
- Analyse past performance data to improve cost prediction and competitiveness
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in estimating, ideally within a main contractor covering a range of projects
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills with previous team oversight experience preferred
- Deep understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry pricing
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam, Buildsoft, etc.)
