The position:
Salter Grange is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead the commercial management of a £54 million cut and carve project in the London Borough of Haringey. This high-profile project involves transforming existing spaces into commercial offices with complex structural alterations and premium finishes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage project budgets, including detailed cost reporting and forecasting
- Lead the procurement process for subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring the best value while maintaining quality and programme requirements
- Prepare and manage contracts, ensuring compliance and minimising risk
- Manage valuations, certify subcontractor payments, and ensure accurate record-keeping
- Assess variations, value changes, and negotiate with clients and contractors to ensure financial control
- Identify and manage financial risks and opportunities to ensure the project remains commercially viable
- Provide detailed cost reports and financial updates to the Commercial Manager and senior leadership
- Work closely with the site team, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure alignment on financial matters
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, providing clear updates and financial transparency throughout the project lifecycle
Requirements:
- Proven track record as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor on large-scale cut and carve or refurbishment projects
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related field; membership with RICS or equivalent professional body is desirable
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
- High level of accuracy in cost reporting and forecasting
